Music Monday – “I’m a Bee Gees fan”

I Love the Bee Gees

Yes, there you have it.  Ridicule if you must.  Trust me, I heard it all growing up.  Everyone loved to tease me about my love of the Gibb brothers – at this age, I don’t care anymore.

So today’s video is one of my favorites “You Win Again.”

First, there’s a great clip that has the brothers talking about how the song came to be and how people wanted them to change it…..

I couldn’t figure why
You couldn’t give me what everybody needs
I shouldn’t let you kick me when I’m down
My baby
I find out everybody knows that
You’ve been using me
I’m surprised you
Let me stay around you

The full version – live 1989

You better beware, I swear
I’m gonna be there one day when you fall
I could never let you cast aside
The greatest love of all

They’ve written so many wonderful songs for themselves and others.  Their harmonies are epic!  So, I’m loud and proud about being a Bee Gees fan.

The person who posted this video claims that it’s Maurice’s last performance with the group before his death.

And this one has brother Andy!  (My “tween” days come rushing back) 1979

My only regret is that I never got to see them together in concert.  This interview with Barry “The Last Man Standing” shows a sample of their music over the years and how he feels about surviving the others.

At least I’ll always have Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band – although Josh seems to think it’s HIS movie now and I have to be “silly” to watch it….   It still takes me back to 7th grade at Montfort Academy in Fredericksburg, VA.

So, are there any other Bee Gees fans out there willing to come out of the closet and and stand up with me?!   Any songs that take you back to middle school every time you hear them?

One Response to “Music Monday – “I’m a Bee Gees fan””
  1. It’s been ages since I’ve heard any Bee Gees songs, but I was their fan as an undergraduate student. (But a much bigger fan of The Beatles!)
